The Last Post for the New Market Bucks Baseball 2008 Blog

I'm writing this last post for the blog. I have really enjoyed keeping this website/blog updated. It has been fun getting reactions from the parents, players, family and friends. I hope everyone has enjoyed reading it as much as I have writing it. I want to say to all the players... You guys are great. I have had so much fun watching you play ball, practice, cut up and grow as ball players. To the coaches it has been an experience that I won't forget. To the parents, thanks for getting behind our boys and letting them play ball. Without your support, they would probably have been playing on the XBOX every night instead of getting out and playing some real sports.

What can you say about the season....Probably not what the kids had hoped for, but instead of quitting, they held their heads up and played hard all the way to the end.

I've tried to not be partial to my son on this blog...but I want to let him know how proud I am of him. He has never played any organized baseball in his 10 years, but I believe as a 1st year catcher in a 11 year old league he played his heart out. I hope he has many more seasons of ball so I can watch him grow in the sport. He'll be back next year and he will be a catching machine. I know Tony.... he isn't Dillon.... But I wonder how many seasons it took him to get to be the phenom he is. Just wait and see next year.... Josh never missed a practice and loves playing catcher. I will be getting him some training and working with him myself during the off season. Franco...get your camp up and running.

Please everyone....send me your email addresses at James_Stovall@bellsouth.net or call me with your phone numbers at 509-4897 so we can keep in touch.

So Farewell to all and Go Bucks.....

Bucks Season Ends In A Close Battle

The Bucks rallied back after the Meridianville Vikings got a 0-7 lead to score 4 points in the 3rd inning and holding the Vikings to one point to make it 4-8. The Bucks came back in the 4th inning to score 5 points to make the score 9-8. All they had to do was hold the Vikings from scoring any runs, but the Vikings are a tough baseball team and they scored two runs to end the Bucks season.

The Bucks Keep It Alive In A Close One!

The mighty Bucks pulled it of in a close game against the Hazel Green Cobras. The Bucks started off slow allowing the the Cobras to get a 7-2 lead towards the end of the game. Going into the 5th inning and with a few technical difficulties, the Bucks sucked it up and came back to pull off the best comeback this season to beat the Cobras 9-7. Taylor Langan made a terrific hit to get on first, followed by Justin Rackly, who hit a triple to bring Taylor in. Coach Tony said that was the fastest he had ever seen Taylor run.

Jonathon Murray hit his first double of the season and he and Adam Ashby scored off the triple by Cameron Daughdrill. Josh Stovall hit two balls into the outfield for single and a double. Austin May hit a single and again played good consistent defense. David Ray executed a beautiful bunt play that totally caught the Cobras off guard. Brian Marsh played great defense as usual keeping the Bucks alive.

The bottom of the fifth, was a nail biter. All the Bucks needed to do was get three outs to win the game. The great pitching of Cameron and a great catch by Justin for the third out gave the Bucks the victory they deserved.

The Bucks missed Logan Cox and hope everything is alright.

Go Bucks, Let's get Meridianville Tuesday night and don't forget practice Monday from 7:00 to 9:00.

Ben.....Caleb Joseph Drafted To The Orioles

This is for Ben..... Caleb Joseph #17 Catcher of Libscomb University has been drafted by the Baltimore Orioles....

Red Sox and Rays Brawl

No one was hurt during the brawl between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays, but it's fun to watch. It just goes to show how our kids are more grown up than most grown ups. One thing for sure, the batter and pitcher do not need to give up their baseball career for boxing....Ha!

Mt Carmel Park Curse Haunts The Bucks!!!

Well Mt. Carmel pulled out their little pack of Bucks VooDoo dolls and jinxed the boys again. The curse of Mt Carmel Park is still haunting the Bucks. With terrible officiating, bad calls and just plain bad luck the Bucks fall 7-0 in their first tournament game of the year. The boys played a whale of a game with good hitting, pitching, and defense. The Bucks had two amazing pick-offs at second base and Logan Cox caught a high pop fly in center field, but again the curse took over and bad calls were made in critical points of the game. The Videos have been uploaded to Bucks TV!

Ben May would like to hold an exorcism on the park this evening after practice to remove the curse on our boys before the game Saturday. Just a little humor there. Ben, a big thanks needs to go to you for your support through the season doing the job that many don't like doing...STATS! Thanks Brother May.

The Bucks next game is Saturday at 4:30 and I believe it is against our Arch Nemesis, Hazel Green. Let's keep it alive Bucks and take this to the end. There isn't a team we have played that we can't beat. We are so proud of you. GO BUCKS!!!
